Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has said the suspension of the activities of both the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state is due to security concerns.

He, however, noted that the suspension of operations of the unions is for two weeks in the first instance to allow both unions meet and settle their differences to avert blood bath.

This was contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olabode Richard Olatunde in Akure on Tuesday.

Akeredolu said the meeting of the unions was secondary to him as his primary concern was to protect citizens of the state.

Olatunde noted that ” ln the meantime, the leadership of both Unions have been directed to vacate the motor parks for peace to reign.
