Wizkid wins big at Soul Train Awards 2019

In the early hours of November 18, 2017, the 2019 Soul Train Awards held at The Orleans Arena, Las Vegas and Wizkid joined the list of winners.

 

The award ceremony was hosted by Tisha Campbel-Martin and Tichina Arnold. However, the big talking point came when 'Brown Skin Girl,' Wizkid's collaboration with Beyonce, Blue Ivy Carter and SaiNt Jhn won the Ashford and Sampson Songwriters' Award.

 

The night saw superstars like Chris Brown, Drake and Beyonce win big. New acts like Lizzo and Summer Walker also walked away with huge awards.

The song was on 'The Lion King: The Gift' Album.

 

A few hours ago, news broke that Nigerian superstar and Beyonce have started shooting the music video for fan-favourite, 'Brown Skin Girl.' Shooting commenced on October 31, 2019.

 

Wizkid's 'Joro' achieves milestones within one month of release

A few weeks ago, Wizkid finally released, 'Joro,' the single he announced about four months earlier.

 

 

The song dropped with a barrage of polarizing comments with Wizkid FC hailing the song and many cynics criticizing the excessive adlibs on the song. Another controversy also sprang up when producer, Northboi accused Wizkid of reluctance to pay for beats.

 

 

But since the song was released, it has achieved the following milestones;

 

 

Almost 10 million views in one month

Wizkid discloses he left EME without a penny

Nigerian music star, Wizkid has said that he left Banky W’s record label, Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in 2014 without a penny.

 

In a video interview that surfaced online on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Starboy said he had to leave the record label without a penny because he felt he had got to a stage, where he had to move forward.

Davido Hails Wizkid, Burna Boy & Others For Efforts On Beyonce’s New Album; “Lion King: The Gift Album”

Davido has congratulated every Nigerian & African artiste that has appeared on Beyonce’s newly released album, “Lion King, The Gift Album.”

 

The music superstar took to his Instagram story to congratulate his Nigerian and African music colleagues for being on the album and as well revealed that being on the project is a massive achievement for African music.

Beyoncé’s “The Gift” Album Features Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Wizkid, Burna Boy & Tekno

Last week, Disney announced that Beyoncé has curated and produced an album titled “The Lion King: The Gift” set for release the same date “The Lion King” hits cinemas – July 19th. The LP was said to feature global recording artists and “steeped in the sounds of Africa”.

The tracklist has been released and it has featured a number of Nigerian stars.

Wizkid’s Manager And Baby Mama, Jada Pollock Accuses Him Of Domestic Violence

Fans of Nigerian Afro-pop superstar, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid woke up to a shocker this morning when his third baby mama, Jada Pollock accused him of domestic violence.

Jada Pollock, who also doubles as the “Ojuelegba” hitmaker’s manager announced that she would no longer be working with him.

Taking to her Instastories, she declared that she is tired of covering up for the superstar, who keeps abusing her. And that she cannot raise her son, Zion in such an abusive environment.

 

I.D Cabasa Showers Accolades On Wizkid After Getting Stunned By The Superstar’s Humility

Veteran music producer, I.D Cabasa, has showered lots of accolades on Wizkid for the humility he showed towards him.

Cabasa who was extremely popular for his production efforts on many of 9ice’s songs between 2007 – 2011 was granted an interview on popular TV show, Wake Up Nigeria and he revealed how his recent single, “Totori” which features Olamide and Wizkid came about.

However, the most relatable part of his interview was when he appraised Wizkid for expressing a down-to-earth attitude towards him as well as his show of modesty.
