Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have been placed in Pot 1 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers, according to the seedings released by FIFA. The draw for the qualifiers will take place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire on July 13, 2023.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The seedings for the draw were determined based on the FIFA rankings from June. Nigeria finds itself in Pot 1 alongside strong African teams such as Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali, and Cote d’Ivoire.
This favorable seeding positions Nigeria among the top-ranked teams in Africa, providing them with an advantageous start in their quest to qualify for the prestigious 2026 FIFA World Cup.
